Jimbo Stokes
Jimbo grew up on a sheep and cattle station near Tamworth, New South Wales. After finishing school, he lived in Sydney where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Economics with Distinction from Sydney University. Alongside his studies, Jimbo played competitive rugby union and trained as an operatic tenor under Christine Douglas (Pacific Opera), all while working full-time in Management Consulting in Sydney’s CBD. He is also a successful visual artist. In late 2021, Jimbo decided to return to his country roots, moving from Sydney back to Scone to fully commit to his country music journey. 2022 saw his debut single Atlas, a touching self-written tribute to his late mother, establishing him as one of the most exciting young country artists in Australia. His distinctive and powerful vocals together with his evocative storytelling launched him onto the scene. Since 2022, Jimbo has been mentored by Rod McCormack (3 x CMAA Producer of Year), who has produced his first three singles. He has also teamed up with some of Nashville’s finest songwriters such as Templeton Thompson, Sam Gay and Sally Barris. 2023 has been a breakout year for Jimbo, marked by the release of his second single Headed Country and most recent Same Damn Walls both of which have had great chart success. Influences: Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Zach Bryan, Garth Brooks
