Floreena Forbes OAM
Floreena bought her first guitar in 1967 and began working in the country music industry in the 1970s after being influenced by Shirley Thoms, June Holms, Patsy Cline and many others. Floreena and her late husband formed the Floreena Forbes & Tumbleweed Country Band in 1977 performing throughout Victoria and NSW and supporting many charities over 24 years. Floreena remains actively involved in country music organising and participating in successful charity fundraisers. She continues to perform solo as well as entertain with Olive Bice OAM as a duo as Bendigo's 2 Country Divas. Since the early 1990s, Floreena has been promoting country music on her website www.floreena.com. She became a radio presenter on TripleC FM in Bendigo in 1996 and in 2007 became a foundation member at 106.7 Phoenix FM Bendigo Victoria where she presents a Country Bluegrass, Blues, Ballads, Gospel show between 11am-1pm Thursdays www.phoenixfm.org.au. Floreena received the 2017 Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame in Tamworth, the 2018 John Toomey Award at the Dusty Boots, in 2021 the Victorian Senior Cota Award and in 2022 the Order of Australia Medal. She will perform on Fibber's Ave A Go Shows and at the Annual Ronald McDonald House Fundraiser.
